The new 2015 Sutphen Engine 5 fire truck has many unique features, including seating for four firefighters along with a driver/operator. For the pump system, it has the capacity of 1,500 gallons per minute. The tank also holds 1,000 gallons of water, with 50 gallons of foam.

Several volunteers from both the Bethel Fire Department and the Stony Hill Fire Department were in attendance as the new engine was welcomed to town.

First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker cut the ribbon at the event last fall.

When it came to the wet-down, it was Stony Hill’s Engine 3 took the honors with Bethel’s new Engine 5. Just before the wet-down, Bethel Fire Chief Fred Ingram had a few words to say to the audience.

“I’d like to offer a blessing on this truck for many years to come and protect our community,” Ingram said.
